Museum Trip with Cousins

I had a great time at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.  We have a membership at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley that gets us into basically any science/history museum in the U.S.

Chickens in the Neighborhood

This weekend we went to the Farmer's Market down the hill to get ingredients for our annual salsa making extravaganza. On our way, we saw the new art installation.  There were over 20 of these panels displaying local neighborhood attractions.  Our neighborhood was once home to all the greenhouses that supplied the city flower shops.  and not to forget a few chickens.....

Helping out

Last Saturday I went to the local food pantry to help Mommy Laura volunteer.  She goes on Saturday mornings and this was my first time there.  We were in charge of giving out mushrooms to the 500 people who come and get food that is trucked over from the San Francisco Food Bank.  I worked really hard.  whew! (P.S.  what are you doing to help those who are less fortunate this holiday season?) ;)

Anya and Alex

While in D.C. I got to see a lot of my friend Alex.  (Anne and Kevin are living in D.C. for two years).  We went picnicking on the Mall and to the Air and Space Museum.

My mom got inducted into the American Academy of Nursing this past weekend in Washington, D.C.  when I wasn't busy playing with Alex, I was dancing the night away and celebrating this moment to remember forever.  I got more compliments on my dress that Nonnie Liz got for me!

Haley's Pizza

My friend, Haley, won a "Design the Pizza topping" contest at a popular San Francisco bakery in celebration of their 13th birthday.  Roasted Poblano Peppers, Roasted Tomatoes, cheese, oregano, and olive oil. We went to pick up her free pizza and tshirts and had fun telling EVERYONE in line that it was her pizza!  Congrats, Haley!!!!!

On Sunday we went to the next neighborhood over with our friend Keith on a hike in Glen Park Canyon.  I had a great time climbing the rocks and listening to the coyotes howl when the ambulances and fire trucks drove by.

A 12- or so- mile bike trip

Last weekend we took our bikes on the BART, got off at Bay Fair Station and rode along the other side of the bay.  Long ago,  the east side of the Bay was used for mining salt (they would pump sea water into the flat land, allow it to evaporate and get the salt).  Since the 1980s the land is getting reclaimed.  We saw a lot of water fowl and squirrels.  Half way through our trip, we went to my friend Nicole's birthday party and then we rode on to the Hayward BART.  A fun, but tiring, day for us all.

Besides baseball, this summer I have been working on my high jump skills (which I happen to be quite good at thanks to my amazing back bending ability) and scootering with the boys who live on our street....

Egg-citing News!

Gardening

Yesterday, Mommy Laura and I went and harvested some vegetables (and fruits!) from the school garden after watering it.  We got lettuce, carrots, blueberries, strawberries, lemons, fava beans, basil, swiss chard, kale, green beans, and I am sure we missed something else.  I came home and made a salad, salad dressing, and lemonade.  It was a good tasty dinner!

Camping Trip

This past weekend we went camping in Mt. Diablo State Park.  I especially enjoyed the rock climbing (yes, that is me in the middle of the mountain).  I also liked making S'mores and eating BBQ chicken.  And I made several lanyards too while Daddy Pat read Harry Potter to me.

Oakland A's Game

We took the train over to Oakland to see the Oakland As play the St. Louis Cardinals.  It was fun and I have vouchers to go back 2 more times!

My camp friends (Rose, Jasmin, Emily, and Niki) and others all worked together this week on making this little area of camp out of lanyard string.  I had such a great time creating it!

Father's Day

On Sunday we walked over to our most amazing neighborhood McLaren Park to practice baseball and play kick ball. 

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

On Sunday, we went to Golden Gate Park to see the bison, watch the fly fisherman practice their skills in a special pool, performed a gymnastics routine in the meadow, and went boating in Stow Lake.

Rube Goldberg Machine

Today our team (me, Addy, and Alex) "The Bear Trappers" showed off our Rube Goldberg Machine.  My job was to hit the marble with the binder clip, watch it go down the track and tube, knock over the blue blocks and trap the bear.  It took a few times but our team finally got it!
