My artistic side

Knowing that my parents have absolutely no art talents (well, except Daddy Pat has received a few Honorable Mentions as a child. Shhh ;), Nonnie Liz has taken a special interest in making sure that I know something about it. This weekend she took me to the Museum of Modern Art for a special program just for kids my age. And afterwards we trotted 3 blocks back to her apartment to paint lanterns!

After 4 years and an odd number of days, mommy's nursies and "nursie bands" (aka bra) aren't as exciting as they used to be. For Mommy Laura, child-led weaning has been the most gradual process one could ever imagine. And most special. Most kids don't make it this far but I'm glad I did... it helped me get back to sleep at night, soothed me when I was feeling sad, and kept me free of illness...which helped keep my mommy from missing work.

La Leche League has a philosophy statement that "ideally the breastfeeding relationship will continue until the child outgrows the need" I don't know when I'll decide that it will be officially over but I'm almost there.
