Walking

Mommy Laura has been walking a lot to try and get this baby to come out! I recently joined her on the hike in McLaren Park

Getting Ready Some More

We all went to a newborn care class yesterday to get a "refresher" (for Mama and Dada) and so that I could learn how to help take care of my little sibling.  I learned how to swaddle, change a diaper, take care of Mommy Laura, and hold the baby in a sling.  It was a little boring at times, but I'm all prepared now to help take care of Mommy Laura and the new baby!

4th Grade Science Fair Project

For this year's science fair, I built a Gauss rifle and tested how far numbers of ball bearings went.

Girls in Sports Basketball

Mommy Laura had to work at the nursing home today so Daddy Pat took me to a special basketball day with other girls in the city through the Recreation Department.  We mainly learned drills (dribbling, shooting, passing).

#goHillary!

The election was a pretty exciting time to be engaged in "Get out the vote" at the SF for Hillary Headquarters and lots of scholarly discussion at school.  Unfortunately our candidate did not win the electoral vote.

Halloween Preparations

Imogen stayed over and we carved pumpkins, went out for Mexican, and created some rainbow loom bracelets.

Bye, Bye Chickens

Goldie, Nugget, and Fuzzy went to their retirement home today.  Mommy Laura drove them to a lovely farm north of Sacramento where they can graze with other farm animals on a large farm.  There were other chickens, rabbits, an ostrich, guinea fowl, llamas, horses, cows, you name it.  Each had their own story of how the woman found them.  The dog is going to keep our chickens safe and sound.  We will miss them (and so will the stray cat who frequents the back yard).

Mini-Vacation

We took a mini-vacation to Monterey Bay this weekend (Sunday-Tuesday).  We hiked in Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, stayed at the hostel, went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (the sea otters are the most adorable creatures ever!), and on the way back home stopped at the UC Santa Cruz Seymour Discovery Center and went to the pumpkin patch in Half Moon Bay.

US Gymnastics National Tour

We drove to San Jose to see Simone Biles and the gang perform in the Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics.  We enjoyed seeing the women and mens' teams perform as well as the rhythmic team and trampoline gymnasts.

#IMetRaina

Tonight I got to meet my favorite author, Raina Telgemeier!  She did the launch of her new book here in San Francisco (she grew up in SF, went to art school in NYC, and lives here again) so I got to hear all about how she started in comics, how she makes her books, and she signed her newest book, Ghosts, for me.  She's also the author of: Smile, Sisters, and Drama.   It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!  Yay!

Day Camping

We went to visit the AVS campers on September 3rd (just for the day).  I had so much fun running in the woods with my friends, hiding out in tents, and eating lots of food and drinking hot chocolate.

Another year of camp at LHS!

I spent another year of camp going with Daddy Pat to his workplace: taking the BART to the LBL shuttle and walking up the hill to Lawrence Hall of Science.  This year my camps were Eco-explorations and Maker's Design Lab (electric circuitry).  We all stayed over in the guesthouse on Thursday and ate breakfast in the cafeteria.

Girls' Track and Field

This week I participated in a special "Girls in Sports" program with Rec and Park.  On Friday we had a track meet and I won in my age group the 100 and 200 yard dash and our team won the relay!  I also enjoyed the javelin throw, shot put, high jump, hurdles, and long jump.
